My dog has dark diarrhea, no appetite, and is weak. What to do?

Hello Maria, I'm so sorry to hear that Dele is not feeling well. If a dog is eating and drinking normally, we will often recommend a bland easily digested diet consisting of ½ cooked white rice and ½ cooked white meat chicken (boiled without any skin or bones). However, diarrhea that continues for more than a few days, or is associated with blood in the stool, vomiting, lethargy or a poor appetite is a reason for a visit to your veterinarian. Very dark brown black stool can be due to bleeding in the stomach, so that is always potentially concerning. I would recommend having your veterinarian examine Dele, so they can give him some medication for the diarrhea and try to figure out what has caused the problem.
