My dog has a moist, penny-sized wound on his neck. Hot spot?

Hello, im just wondering if you could help me i seen a small wound the size of a penny on my dogs neck friday evening and i keep cleaning it i looked at it today and this is what i found im taking him to the vets tomorrow but im just wondering what it could be? Thankyou

Hello. It looks like Tyson has a nasty hot spot. This is a moist bacterial infection. They are usually sticky and sometimes smelly. They can get pretty big pretty quickly. Once Tyson gets to the veterinarian, they will likely want to shave the hair away from the area and wash it thoroughly with an antibacterial wash. These spots are often treated with a combination of drugs including a prescription antibiotic, an anti itch medication and often a topical spray to help dry it up and reduce the itch.
