My dog won't eat, is throwing up, and can't move. Could it be heat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 5 years and 3 months old | 5 lbs

I have a question, my dog is a chihuahua mix, 5 year’s old. He slowed down his eating when we moved to a new house, I thought this was normal so I didn’t worry much. Later he stopped eating completely and only ate one time instead of three. Now he doesn’t eat any of his dog food and threw up outside, and has trouble moving. Does that have to do with the heat? what can I do other than take him to the vet?

Poor Geo! Unfortunately I would not recommend doing a home remedy in this case. It's very concerning that he will not eat at all, threw up, and has trouble moving. This tells me he is very ill, and requires veterinary care. If it's very hot where you are, yes this could be due to the heat. Heat stroke is fatal without treatment, which is why he needs to see a vet. I do not recommend treating this at home at all. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.
