My hamster has something in its cheek. What is it and what to do?

Thank you for the photos - unfortunately I can not determine what the material is, even though they are quite good photos! I would recommend taking Kevin in to be evaluated, as a local veterinarian will be able to feel the area to determine where the white material is coming from. It may be something stuck in the skin, may be growing from the body, or could be puncturing through the skin. Once your vet determines that, then they may make recommendations for removal, which may be very simple or may be complex depending on what is found. Please make sure Kevin is able to eat properly, and it is a good idea to weigh him if possible to ensure he is not losing weight while he is dealing with this challenge.
