My baby bunny is seizing and dying. Can I save it? What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Our Mini Lop rabbit had 7 babies about 18 days ago. Four are dead, and the smallest of the final 3 is barely hanging on. We brought it inside and we’re keeping it warm. Also bought some formula. But one thing with the one we brought in is it almost seems to be seizing. It stretches out it’s legs stiffly, pulls it’s head back, opens it’s mouth and sqeaks really loud for 15-30 seconds then he’s better. What do I do overall? Feed him? Keep him inside permanently? Does he even have a chance?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Unfortunately it sounds like the little bunny is likely not going to make it. It sounds like it might be having agonal breaths. I recommend you bring both the mother bunny and the remaining live bunnies to a vet right away to try to see if there is something you can do for the other two bunnies. Best of luck with your little ones, I hope they are doing ok.
