My stray kitten has back leg issues & spine dip. How do I care?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Manx | Female | unspayed

I found a stray kitten who doesn't seem to be in pain but she can't use her back legs properly and has a dip in her spine close to her tail. How should I care for her until I can get to the vet?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Mayo! I would be sure she is eating, drinking and urinating. If she isn't urinating then she needs to be seen sooner than later. Otherwise if she is doing those things, just keep her confined so she doesn't jump or fall down the stairs. A large dog crate or baby play yard would work. I wish you the best!
