Great question! Luna should be fed three times a day, morning, afternoon, and evening. Take the daily allotment recommended on her food bag, and divide it into three equal portions. When she is six months old, she can be fed twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

How much you should feed Luna depends on the type of food you are feeding her. Each brand of food will have a different daily amount, and that will be in the instructions on the bag of food. I don't understand this chart, how much am I suppose to give my 1 month and 27day Shih tzu puppy and I can't feed her three times a day only twice because of my schedule and nobody can come to my house to feed her
As a young Shih Tzu puppy, I'm assuming that Luna is under 3 pounds. Based upon that estimated body weight and her age, the chart recommends feeding 1/4-3/4 cups per day, divided into smaller meals. Small breed puppies really need to eat 3-4 times per day, if possible, because they can easily develop hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) if they do not eat frequently, which can lead to extreme weakness and seizures in severe cases. Try to feed Luna in the morning, when you get home from work, and again at bedtime, giving her about 1/8 cup per meal. If possible, try to look for a dog walker, pet sitter, or neighbor to feed her and let her outside midday. I hope that all goes well!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I recommend until about 4 months of age to feed three times per day (divide total daily ration in to 3). Then after 4 months divide the daily ration to twice daily, morning and night. I recommend twice daily feeding from that point on. It is not wrong to feed three times per day longer but I don't think it is necessary, unless it is a toy breed and we are worried about low blood sugar. I hope this helps!

Great question! At almost two months of age, Ooge is old enough to be fed a puppy formulated food. It has to be a puppy formulated food because puppies require higher amounts of protein, calcium, and calories than an adult dog. A puppy food will provide everything he needs to grow properly. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. On the bag, there is a daily recommended amount of food, and I would divide that into three equal portions to feed him three times a day, once in the morning, noon, and evening. Once he turns six months old, he can be fed twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. I hope this helps :-)

Gizmo is so cute!! Puppies should not be given as much food as they want, they should be given a daily allotment that is written on their bag of food. I would take his daily allotment and divide it into two equal portions for him to be fed once in the morning and once in the evening. This is the best way to feed him. You still need to feed her good quality complete puppy food for large dogs. Depending on the brand and ingredients the amount varies, so read the instructions on the bag and feed accordingly. You should still feed her 3 times a day as she is still growing.

Hi there and thank you for your question. First, to answer your question about feeding two or three times daily. Over the years in my practice I have seen many puppies fed both ways. And these puppies look and act healthy and happy. As long as the owners are feeding the same total daily amount required to maintain healthy weight, You can feed either two or three times daily based on your schedule and what is convenient to you. Second, to answer your question about how much to feed. I try and keep this answer as simple as possible. During the first year that they are a puppy, I recommend weighing them each week on an accurate scale. After you obtain their weight and you feel as if their body condition score is ideal, please look on the back of your bag of food and feed the amount of food they recommend for that age and that weight of your animal.
