Could my dog's tooth extraction cause chronic eye infection and nose?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | spayed | 6 lbs

My 1 year old Yorkie was recently diagnosed with Keratoconjunctivitis sicca in her right eye only. Since that diagnosis, she gets chronic infections in that eye, the right side of her nose gets crusty and dry, and she excessively drools periodically on that side. She had her right baby lateral incisor extracted in January. Could this be causing her chronic eye infection and right sided problems?

There may be clogged tear duct that is causing the dry eye and nose. The lacrimal duct connects the nose to the eye, so I would worry there is an obstruction. A dry eye can lead to an infection as it makes things worse. i would talk to your vet about an exam under sedation to flush the duct to see if this helps.
