This could cause gastrointestinal obstruction and should ideally be checked as soon as possible at your local veterinarian. Your veterinarian will probably make him sick with an appropriate medication and perform an xray/abdominal ultrasound to make sure gastrointestinal passage is free.     Yes, this can pose a serious risk for an obstruction. Pongo should be seen by your veterinarian or at the nearest veterinary ER. Either can induce vomiting via injection to hopefully bring up the socks. If not, endoscopy or surgery may be necessary to remove them. Do not delay. The risk for complications can increase if the socks leave the stomach.
