My cat has pink pee, peeing outside. Should I give Clavaseptin?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female

One of my cats seems to have a UTI, she was peeing around the house and her pee looks a little pinkish. It seems to have started today, from what I noticed, and she has some difficulty walking. I have Clavaseptin which was actually for one of my other cats because he had this obsess thing near his butt hole but it is much better now. Shall I give my female cat Clavaseptin, and if so, how much? They are 62.5 mg. I'll also note that she had kidney problems years ago, and she nearly died. Thx, Sue.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Nina! Causes of inappropriate urination with blood are: urinary tract infection, stress cystitis, crystals in the urine, bladder stone, or a bladder tumor. It is likely that Nina has a bacterial UTI but there are many other causes for her issues. With her history of kidney issues she should be examined and a urine sample should be tested before starting her on antibiotics. Using antibiotics inappropriately builds resistance. I recommend taking her to the Vet and trying to not let her urinate for several hours (lock her in a room with out a box) or collect a urine sample to bring with you. If she does have a UTI your Vet can appropriately dose the Clavaseptin and tell you how long based on her specific infection. I wish Nina a speedy recovery!
