My kitten's URI isn't improving after medication. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 2 months and 29 days old | 2 lbs

Pluto is slower, weaker, doesn’t play and weighs less than his brother from the same litter. A week ago, I took him to the vet and he had a upper respiratory infection and for a week he had his medicines, but he still doesn’t seem any different since he sneezes still and has boogies. What should I do? He’s an indoor cat and hasn’t gotten his rabies vaccine.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Pluto. He will need to see his veterinarian again as it does not sound like he is improving. He may require a different antibiotic or a longer course. He is so young, it is easy for him to get dehydrated. He may be given fluids as well. In the meantime, keep his eyes clear of discharge and encourage him to eat and drink as best you can. I hope this information helps!
