What's the first step to help my neglected dogs get healthy again?

My dogs were left with a relative of my deployed and estranged spouse. They have been neglected and i'm flying out to get them but what should I do first to get them back to health. Pet's info: Dog | Doberman Pinscher | Male | unneutered

The absolute first step would be to take them to a vet to be examined for any health issues. Then the vet will be able to get them back on track with routine health care such as working, parasite treatments and vaccinations. You should feed them the best quality dog food you can afford, royal canin and hill's being very good. You may have to take time to retrain them depending how they have been treated. If they have trust issues it may be best to see an animal behaviourist.
