Why is my dog limping on front leg with fur loss but still running?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 8 months and 23 days old | 19.842 lbs

Sweety is limping and is trying best not to put pressure on her front left leg. She has no trouble running and jumping meters high bt while walking normally, she limps. The is no foreign object lodged in her paw. She does'nt squel when I touch her leg. She's just rising her left leg all the time. Also there is discolouration and loss of fur in a small bee sized area on her leg(if it's a symptom). It's just that one leg. She exercises by playing tug, fetch and classic running and nothing else.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Based on your description, it sounds as though Sweety may have a leg injury. The brown discoloration on her fur may be from her chewing / licking at the leg. If this is not going away or worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
