My young female goat was mounted. Why is her leg injured?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Other | Unknown - Other | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 13 days old | 22.046 lbs

Recently my young male billygoat has been trying to mount my young doe despite my efforts to stop it, due to her age and size she isn’t ready to be served. Since this has started she’s been unable to move her back right leg.

Mating can be quite traumatic for the female and if your goat is still very young then she could be easily hurt by the male. Hopefully it is soft tissue inflammation but potentially he may have injured a nerve. You could see if your local large animal vet can prescribe you an antinflammatory injection for her. Definitely keep him away from her.
