My 14-week puppy lost front teeth, but no adult teeth yet. Normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 3 months and 11 days old | 29 lbs

My dog is 14 weeks old and I noticed two of her middle front teeth have fallen out/maybe got ripped out at some point today. I know that all dogs have a set of puppy teeth and adult teeth but I want to make sure it is okay that though her puppy teeth are gone, there aren’t any adult teeth there yet. Is this normal?

This is completely normal and right on schedule. These are the first teeth to fall out. Adult teeth will appear in those spots soon. The teething process takes about 6-10 weeks total. Most of the time, the teeth just seem to disappear....puppies swallow them or they end up in the grass outside, etc. Usually the last teeth to fall out are the canine or “fang” teeth. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Comet. At 18 weeks of age, he is expected to be losing his baby teeth. So I suspect the teeth were loose and that is why they easily came out. I hope this information helps!
