Why does my cat meow repeatedly with a scrunchie? Is it normal?

Ive never heard my cat meow until a few days ago. She was meowing while i was in the living room and when i went to see her she had my scrunchie next to her. I didnt think about it and didnt care. But she kept meowing a few hours later and she had the same scrunchie next to her. And i kept putting it back. She did this multiple times last night and today. Its always the scrunchie next to her. Hello. I have a male cat that does this periodically with a small toy. It is a peculiar meow & when I hear it he always has this small toy in his mouth. In his case, this is probably the call to inform all around him that he is bringing home dinner. I always tell him how proud I am with him. I have also observed an outside cat that has caught a small prey animal do the same thing. With Sarah, it is probably something similar in that she is "announcing" that she has caught the scrunchie. This may also be a maternal behavior. Regardless, it is very normal for a cat to vocalize with a toy or soft object. Just make sure the scrunchie is unable to be swallowed by your cat.
