My dog has discharge, odor, bumps, and licking. Is it an infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Springer Spaniel | Female | spayed | 12 years and 7 months old | 55 lbs

Gracie has been constantly licking herself and urinating constantly. I finally got to check her out. There is a strong odor coming from her genital area as well as those large bumps around her vaginal area have had a pus discharge. I also noticed them around her anus too. She also seems to have a hotspot/ large scabby area right next to the infection. Do you think this is a yeast infection/UTI or could it be something else? any recommendations as to what medicine/products could help her

That is likely to be caused by a vaginal and perianal infection (probably secondary to a dermatitis in the perianal region). A check up is required to confirm this clinical suspicion and treat appropriately. Antibiotics and local disinfection with appropriate solution (betadine diluted should be fine) are likely to be needed.
