My cat won't eat or drink, is losing weight, and has an eye infection.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 9 months old

My cat is not eating and rarely drinks water. She is already a year old. And currently she has a bit of an infection in her right eye. What can we do to treat her without going to the vet? Please help us. She's losing weight and is already really thin.

Unfortunately, she needs to see a vet with her eye looking like that. She may not be eating much because of how she is feeling. Your vet would need to determine if that is from a tooth root abscess, there is a scratch on Lilli's eye or she has an infection and then treat appropriately. There is nothing you can do from home to treat this. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
