What causes my cat to gag in the morning without throwing up?

My cat has been gagging in the morning ? What would be wrong ? Today was the second time he did it he did it yesterday as well but it’s only once n he doesn’t throw up anything ?? Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 5 months and 3 days old | 1lb
