What causes my cat to gag in the morning without throwing up?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 5 months and 3 days old | 1lb

My cat has been gagging in the morning ? What would be wrong ? Today was the second time he did it he did it yesterday as well but it’s only once n he doesn’t throw up anything ??

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. What you are describing could be Lumi trying to cough up a hairball. I would recommend using a product such as feline Laxatone which can be found online quite easily. If there is no improvement or Lumi worsens, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.     IT could be hairball issue, but it could also be something much more serious. if he is otherwise acting normally, give him a hairball paste (can buy from any petshop) once a day for a week, if it doesn't get better- get him to the vet.
