My dog has diarrhea, a red sore anus, and is drooling. Is it serious?

Pet's info: Dog | West Highland White Terrier | Female | spayed | 8 years and 4 months old

My bitch went outside to do her business she eventually came back in (about 30minites later unusually long for her) when she came back her poo was stuck around her anus in her fur after taking her to bathroom to sort her out her anus is really red and sore (she wouldn't let me near it and kept drooling alot as I was cleaning her now she is just lay on floor looking sorry for herself and I have to keep wiping her anus as she is excreting herself as shown in picture attached

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Bob! It appears that Bob has severe diarrhea that is just leaking out. The drooling makes me concerned that he is nauseous and may start vomiting. Possible causes are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, toxin ingestion, allergic reaction, pancreatitis, ate something gross outside, food allergy/intolerance or reaction to new food/treat/table food. Due to the acuteness and severity I recommend taking him to the vet for an exam and treatment. I wish Bob a speedy recovery!
