My dog has a hard, splitting, growing spot. When to see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 6 months and 19 days old | 25 lbs

The spot started as a tiny white spot and the past few weeks it has grown into a large hard spot. It grows up but not out and has started to split. What should I do about this?

Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is hard to say exactly what this is without examining Georget first. It could be just a wart or it could be another mass or tumor. I would recommend she be seen by her veterinarian soon so this can get a closer inspection. Her veterinarian may take a small sample of the mass to help determine what it is and if it is a concern or not or needs to be removed. I hope this helps and thanks again for posting!
