What's the best food for my teacup chihuahua puppy's health?

I never recommend Blue Buffalo, it's actually a terrible food. Hill's Science diet is perfect for Mia, it's an excellent brand of food. I do not recommend switching her food. The wet food is fine, but you can mix in some dry food as well. I hope this helps!

Personally, I really like Royal Canin's line of puppy foods - they even have a breed-specific diet for Chihuahuas :) Other good options would include Purina Pro Plan and Hills Science Diet. Whatever brand you choose, make sure to feed Peaches the puppy version the entire time that she's nursing, since she will need the extra calories to make milk for the puppies.

I recommend a small breed diet and to stick with one of the higher quality brands. I like Royal Canin because the diets have high quality, easy to digest protein and contain an excellent fiber blend. I would recommend a food intended for small breed dogs. The three brands I prefer when choosing a food are Hill’s, Royal Canin, and Purina. I think any of these would be a good choice. Commercial diet of good quality (Royal Canin or Hill's puppy food) is the best option up to twelve months of age. Then you can switch to adult food. Feed her twice daily. As treats it would be ideal to use vegetables like carrots for example. These would be very healthy and not fat at all.

In general, grain free food is not recommended due to a potential link with heart disease. I recommend to feed a brand like Royal Canin Chihuahua Puppy (it's ok that he is a mixed breed) or their regular small breed puppy formula. Purina ProPlan also carries small breed puppy diets. If very young small puppies go too long between meals, their blood sugar can drop too low. This results in a weak lethargic puppy that will be less interested in eating and drinking. You can try using a supplement known as NutriCal to keep her blood sugar up. If she seems unresponsive, place karo syrup on her gums and seek immediate veterinary care. Otherwise, leave puppy food available at all times so that she does not need to go extended periods between meals. Continue this until she is around 4 months of age. As far as another puppy food option, I would use a small or tiny breed formula from Purina or Hills. These are trustworthy companies with products backed by extensive research. Try feeding her a complete food for small dogs. I personally like to feed Royal Canin, Iams or Hill's Science. There are quite a few good brands of dog food out there, just make sure it is for small dogs and for her age bracket.
