My cat's losing leg hair. Could it be mange? What's an affordable fix?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 7 years old | 5 lbs

My female cat approximately 6 years old was told by the vet a few years ago that she had seasonal alopecia on her paws. I'm sorry her legs as her hair becomes non-existent but Grows Right Back. Well I gave her a bath and just noticed a few unusual things and upon doing research, mange came up. What would be the best possible thing to give for her which is also relevantly reasonably priced? She just had this look in her eyes that she wasn't comfortable. Broke my heart. THANKS!!!

I am sorry to hear about your kitty. I would consider a trial of Bravecto https://us.bravecto.com/for-cats.aspx?&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyLCOmpTM2wIV0MDACh0n2QzyEAAYASAAEgIlBfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds which is used off label for mites. If there is no improvement with this, it may be atopic dermatitis and due to allergies and she may benefit from long term allergy medication such as apoquel or atopica.
