My cat is vomiting, lethargic, and has milky substance in poop. Emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 5 months old

I have a cat that is about a year old. She has 2 six week old kittens but they have pretty much weaned off. Last night she vomitted ALL over the place and is very lethargic today. My daughter noticed a milky white substance when the mama pooped. Is this because she doesn't have anything left in her? Vet can't get her in for two days....do I look for an emergency vet?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The milk substance in her stool could be mucous which indicates inflammation in the colon. Causes of vomiting and diarrhea are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, dietary indiscretion, ate something causing a blockage, food allergy/intolerance, reaction to new food/treat/table food, infected uterus or pancreatitis. If she continues to vomit and not eat she needs to be seen before 2 days. I wish you and Toot the best!
