My 7-year-old German Shepherd has diarrhea, lethargy, panting. ER?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 7 years and 5 months old | 75 lbs

My german shepherd is 7 years old. She has had diarrhea for about a month now. We have tried changing her food to see if that would help and we have given her anti-diarrhea meds from petsense. Nothing seems to help. She also lays around all day and pants alot more than normal. She stays inside and we keep it very cool. Should we take her to an emergency veterinarian hospital?

I am sorry to hear about Sadie. She definitely needs to visit a vet for this issue since it has been going on for so long. If she seems weak, has abdominal pain, is not eating or is vomiting, is having trouble breathing, or has pale gums then these would be reasons to seek emergency care. If not I would try to get an appointment at your vet as soon as possible.
