Is it okay to adopt puppies whose parents are brother and sister?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I’m thinking about adopting a dog from a woman that I previously got a dog from. Two of her dogs that are siblings had puppies accidentally and those are the ones I’m looking at. I was just wondering if this is a bad idea since it is a brother and sister that had puppies. I have seen conflicting answers online.

Normally this should not be a problem unless the parents have hereditary diseases. If they do, then these could be expressed in the puppies. But if both parents are healthy, then it is ok to get a puppy.
