My 6-week-old kitten has sneezing/runny eyes. When to stop formula?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 12 days old

When i bought simba 2 weeks ago i was unaware of his sneezing and runny eyes and nose hes only 6 weeks old . Does he have the flu ? i was told if he has the flu its nothing to be worried about and i can clear it at home by just making sure he has lots of fluid and keeping his eyes clean. Is this right ? What would u recommend? Also i feed him kitten formula 3 times a day in a kitten feeding bottle as well as additional wet cat food when should i fully stop giving him formula ?

Yes, is possible that Simba has cat flu. Most of the time it is a self limiting disease and will disappear without any specific treatment. But, if Simba becomes lethargic, inappetent, under the weather, supporting treatment or treatment for secondary bacterial infection might be essential, therefor consider to bring him to your local vet. You were doing well by offering fluids and keeping his eyes clean! Regarding the question about the nutrition, he doesn't need the formula anymore if he is already 6 weeks old. You can offer wet kitten food or moisture dry food. Please post again on the forum if you would like to discuss it further. I hope my answer was helpful.
