What room is best for my new pet bird: quiet or noisy environment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female

My mom finnaly gave in and let me get a pet bird when I'm in highschool. What room should I put them in? She wants me to put it in our guest room, but it's very quite there and I don't want the bird to get used to a quiet environment. There's another room that my sister and I play music in almost every day (it's pretty loud). She plays piano, I, acoustic guitar. Would that be the better room? Or would it be too loud, scaring the bird?

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Depending on the type of bird you are planning to get, a more social environment may be best. I would also recommend considering proximity to the kitchen in your home as well as lighting in the room. It’s best to keep the bird in a room further from the kitchen to avoid potentially toxic fumes and in a room that does not get too hot or cold during the day. It is always best to acclimate birds slowly to their new environment. I hope all is well with your new pet!
