My dog has sudden head bumps after a tumor popped. Allergic or tumors?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 14 years and 5 months old | 45 lbs

My dog has suddenly gotten bumps on her head that weren't there yesterday after a big tumor on her side has popped and I don't know if maybe it's an alegic reaction or more tumors developing. What could these sudden bumps be?

Hello, sorry to hear about Winney. The most likely scenario is that these bumps are additional tumors. Some tumors such as mast cell tumors can cause release of histamine and may cause hives, although these additional bumps looks a little too big and too few for hives. It would be best to have these bumps looked at by your vet in the morning. If he continues to have new bumps, if he has any panting, itching, facial swelling, and difficulty breathing then that could be more consistent with an allergic reaction or mast cell tumor and may need to be seen tonight to control his signs. Hope this helps and best of luck.
