My cat's dermatitis spray isn't working. How long should I wait?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 5 years and 10 months old | 10 lbs

Went to the vet recently for a strange rash/growth on my cats inner thigh. It was soon diagnosed as dermatitis. We got GenOne spray for my cat and it’s been four days and not much improvement aside from the redness going down. How long is genome spray supposed to work? I was told to keep spraying for a week but it’s been 4 days and not much improvement?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Kiala. I would suspect the spray to be working more by now if is going to help. Is she able to lick the area? If so, she may be causing continual self trauma that makes the skin worse. If not and it still is not resolving, I would contact your veterinarian. She may need an oral medication as opposed to a topical one. I hope this information helps!
