Charlie got into a pile of dust when we were at the park and he spent a few hours constantly scratching his neck and armpit area. I gave him a bath when we got home and checked for fleas or any other bug and he is clean. After that I noticed that his skin is a little dry and red in that area. Can I apply some lotion or something?

Hi there and thanks for posting on PetCoach! You can try applying a leave in conditioner or topical spray such as the one I linked below. If that doesn't seem to help and Charlie's skin continues to look red or he appears bothered by his skin and itches or scratches, you may want to take him to his veterinarian. I hope this helps!

I am sorry to hear about Charlie! This could be a mild allergy or skin irritation if it is just a small area. You can try starting a[ fatty acid supplement](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/vetri-science-laboratories-omega-3-6-9-dog-and-cat-gel-caps) which can help decrease inflammation and itching in the skin. Ask your vet if they feel an antihistamine, such as Benadryl or Zyrtec, is safe for Charlie given his health history. You can also try a topical product such as Duoxo Calm spray or gel on the area. If more lesions develop or these aren't resolving then a trip to the vet is recommended.
