Dog eye bleeding with ulcer: Is it an emergency? What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Terrier | Male | 18 years and 5 months old

My 18yo terrier's eye seems to be internally bleeding from the eye in which he has an ulcer, is this an emergency and is there anything I should or can do about it?

Hello, sorry to hear about Spark. Bleeding from inside of the eye typically requires immediate attention from your veterinarian or ophthalmologist. Primarily because this could be secondary to multiple things including glaucoma which is very painful. Other conditions could include an increased blood pressure and unfortunately cancer within the eye. Ulcers do not typically cause bleeding from within the eye, however, if the ulcer has perforate then the eye globe could be damaged and cause some bleeding. This is also something that should be addressed immediately as it may lead to losing the eye. Please have Spark evaluated by his veterinarian immediately. Hope this helps and best of luck.
