Did I expose my cats to a virus after visiting a cattery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Sphynx | Male | neutered | 11 lbs

I have 2 healthy Sphynx cats that are now 7 yr old. I visited a cattery to buy a new one and I played with the kittens. On the same day my Sphynx cats smelled my clothes and I had them on my lap all evening long. A week later, all the kittens died of a viral disease. How probably is it that I carried this virus with me and I passed it to my cats?

It is possible that you could spread the disease, but if your cats are appropriately vaccinated they should have some degree of immunity to it. Keep an eye on them for changes in behavior/illness and call your veterinarian if anything changes.
