My dog has blisters on his chin. Is it a skin infection or pyoderma?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | 1 year and 5 months old | 20 lbs

My dog Dax (1.5yr old terrier mix) has a few warts on his bottom jaw. I initially thought it was Canine oral papillomas, but about 2 days after noticing the first one, they started to look more blister-like. I'm concerned it might be Pyoderma or something? He recently had a skin infection that caused him to lose a lot of his hair but after a vet visit and a round of antibiotoics we thought we had gotten rid of that (the hair loss has stopped). Any thoughts on what this is? (pics attached)

This is not papillomavirus but in fact looks like a skin infection. I would rec bringing him back to the vet and having them evaluate his chin. Typically with these I will treat with antibiotics and sometimes a steroid to clear it up. I recommend swapping out any plastic bowls and rec cleaning bowls every single day, especially the water bowl. Also keeping his chin clean will be very helpful and drying it off after he drinks.
