My dog's cough returned after stopping antibiotics. What now?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | 2 years and 6 months old

Dog outside my shop i feed him and he jas cough since February 2018 amd since may i am giving him antibiotic amoxycillin and potassium clavulanate along with roxidthromycin and his cough has improve alot i give this antibiotics to him for month and now its been 3 days i stop giving and today he again cough so should i continue for few more days or he has some other serious diseases like heart worm or something else

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would assume if Danny has something infectious like a bacterial or viral pneumonia he would have improved with antibiotics or the virus would have ran it's course. The only advice in retrospect would have been to not stop the antibiotic until the cough had resolved for at least a week or 2. Some pneumonia's require 4-8 weeks of antibiotics. He definitely could have something else going on in his lungs like heart worm, heart disease, tracheal disease, a hernia, fungal pneumonia (they are very sick), cancer or allergic airway disease. If you are able try to get Danny to a vet for an exam, heart worm test and chest X-rays. I wish you the best!
