Is my recently adopted shy dog's eating and potty schedule normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 20 lbs

I am fostering to adopt Seymour. I was told he's very shy at first. I got him 9 pm Saturday after he was in a van for at least 5 hours. He was neutuered a week ago. He has been eating and drinking a bit. He pooped Sunday night at 8 pm and peed Monday morning at 4 am. That is all. Should I be concerned?

Seymour is probably just getting used to his new surroundings. If he is eating, drinking, and being somewhat active, then I would not be too concerned. Continue to monitor him for the next few days. If he appears lethargic, stops eating, or strains when defecating, then you should take him in to be examined by a veterinarian. I hope this helps. Best of luck.
