When to vaccinate newborn puppies if parvo is on my property?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 5 months old | 40 lbs

I have a pregnant dog and someone brought parvo onto the land. When should I begin giving puppies vaccines with parvo on the land?

I would just try to clean the area that you plan to keep them with bleach and do not let them go anywhere else. I would also keep the dam away from where ever the parvo dog was and where it used the bathroom if at all possible. Unfortunately, giving vaccines before 6 weeks old usually don't help due to the maternal antibodies they receive through the mother's milk. I would be sure to give them their first distemper/parvo vaccine at 6 weeks old. I hope this helps!
