Why isn't Baytril working for my beardie's swollen, injured toe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Baytril is not working for my beardie at all (on 11th day of 14). And his toe is still quite swollen and red (and a wound because a part of his toe fell off in his bath one day, not sure why) and he kicks me if I try and take a look at his leg extremely delicately. (His underside of the right leg has some toned down yellowish areas and his lower leg has a patch of almost black scales about 1/2 inch big. The vet I took him to is the only "reptile vet" near me. She wouldn't even hold him.

An exam with an experienced herp veterinarian would be strongly recommended. You can find one here: https://arav.site-ym.com/search/custom.asp?id=3661 In the meantime, keep the affected area clean and dry. Keep Lenny warm and as stress free as possible. Consider increasing tank temps by 5-10 degrees F to aid in recovery. make sure he continues to eat and soak him in a warm 50/50 solution of water and unflavored PediaLyte to maintain hydration.
