My cat is sick from flea spray, and fleas are still bad. What now?

Hi my cats both have fleas and I’ve been spraying them with flea spray but it’s not really working and my orange cat has them bad and the spray isn’t working I guess and he’s sick now. He feels hot and he’s laying around a lot and throwing up more. His skin is starting to break out bad. What should I do?

I am not sure the flea spray that you used but some of them can be toxic to cats, especially if used inappropriately. If he is having a reaction to the spray then you should wash him with dawn dish soap to remove any residue of the spray. It would also be a good idea to have a vet examine him to determine if treatment is needed. I recommend you use a high quality flea prevention like Bravecto, Advantage Multi, Frontline, or Revolution and your vet can help you determine which product is best for your cat. You will also need to vacuum your house and wash all bedding and treat your house with a product labeled for the house.
