My dog's feet are pink and licking after grooming. What should I do?

My dog was groomed yesterday and his feet are very pink and he keeps licking I was told he is sensitive. I am using itch soothing spray and baby benadryl. What to do?

I am sorry to hear that Toby is uncomfortable. He may have been sensitive to the shampoo, or he may have some irritation from the clippers. I would encourage you to consider putting a cone (e-collar) on him for a day or so to stop him from licking them. If they continue to be red or not improving then I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon. A mild steroid may be helpful in calming the skin.
