My cat has a bad spider bite wound. Can I treat it at home or vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 14 lbs

I think my cat has a brown recluse spider bite. It was a small spot i felt on his side to begin with. We were gone for a couple days, it got about the size of a nickle and looked like it was a big blister with a hole in it. Now he has it torn open and look like a big hole in his side. I dont have money for a vet so i was wondering if any home remedies were available for this situation, or if he needs antibiotics or medical work done.

Hi. Poor Smokey. Unfortunately for a lesion like that, and progressing, there is no home treatment you can do. It may even progress to the point of affecting how he feels and internal functions. He needs professional treatment by a trained veterinarian. He will most likely need medications prescribed by your veterinarian. Good luck
