Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 7 days old | 3 lbs
We just adopted our kitten yesterday, and she bonded immediately. The problem is, though, whenever we leave her alone (even to just go get food from the kitchen) she yowls and cries until we come back. Is this a form of seperation anxiety? I know its normal for kittens, but its important that we train her out of it. We have tried doing 5 min intervals of seperation, but she gets stressed within a minute. How should we approach this?

In my opinion, it is too early to be trying to do any sort of training with this kitten. She is very very young and in a brand new place for only one day. She needs time to adjust to her new surroundings, the abscence of the mother cat and litter mates and it can all be very scary for her. Give her time to become comfortable in her new home, gain some confidence and readdress this issue in a few weeks. By then, she will be more confident and not as needy.
