Kitten's dry patch under eye: Is it ringworm? Does he need a vet?

My 2.5 month old kitten just started having what looked like dry hair below his eye today. It came off and left a big patch. Could this be ringworm? Should I take him to a vet first thing on Monday or should I take him to a vet emergency room? Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 3 months and 2 days old | 2.8 lbs
