Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 9 years and 9 months old | 15 lbs
My Quintino is diabetic. I feed him Royal Canin Glycobalance, which is perscribed by his Vet. I feed him the wet food now because the nuggets made him vomit a lot. My question is, how much can I feed him of the wet food? I'm suppose to give him 1/3 of a cup. I give him more than that but he's always hungry. I can feel his entire spine. Is that normal? He was 23-24 pounds before his diagnosis. Now he is 14-15 pounds but doesn't gain anymore weight. So how much do I feed him??? Thank you.

Hi and thank you for using PetCoach. I am sorry to hear that your pup Quintino is losing weight. According to the Royal Canin Website for Glycobalance (https://www.royalcanin.com/products/royal-canin-veterinary-diet-canine-glycobalance-canned-dog-food-13.4-oz-loaf-in-gel-24-cans-case-/427414), it looks like a 22 pound dog is supposed to eat 2 and 3/8 of a can. So it seems as though he may have been underfed of wet food. I recommend to slowly start increasing his food until you get to this new amount of food. I also would get Quintino in to see your veterinarian to make sure that his glucose levels are normal and he is on the right amount of insulin since he has lost so much weight.
