Why is my bearded dragon's tail crooked but she acts normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi. I have a female bearded dragon that is 1 year and a month old and about 2 days ago I noticed she was a wave/crock in her tail that wasn't there before. She isn't acting like she is in pain when I touch it and is still acting normal, eating, moving around, etc. She also has the proper lighting. Thank you for your help!

This could be an injury or very early MBD (metabolic bone disease). Have Harper examined by your veterinarian or an experienced herp vet for confirmation. Review her diet and vitamin/mineral supplementation regimen. If it is MBD, it can be corrected with just a few tweaks in diet and lighting. Check the age of the UVB bulb. If it is older than 6 months, replace it with a new bulb. You can review care and feeding of bearded dragons at the link below. http://www.anapsid.org/bearded.html
