Why is my pet-sitting Yorkie panting heavily? Is she too hot or sick?

Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 10 months old | 27 lbs

Hello. I am pet sitting a female spayed 8-year old yorkie. Since I have had her at my home, she's been panting heavily and it's growing to be a concern as to if this is normal or if it is not. I was worried she was too hot, however, I am not sure if that's the problem or not.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I'm sorry to hear she may be having issues. Panting in dogs may be due to a variety of reasons, including stress, heat, heart issues, pain, or another underlying issue. If the panting continues, or if she starts to display other symptoms, such as vomiting or inappetence, I would reach out to her regular veterinarian to see if any underlying issues need to be addressed. I would also recommend reaching out to her owner to see if she has any known underlying medical conditions. Good luck!
