My cat is underweight and in heat. How to get her healthy for spay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 5 months old

Hey. Snoshi has a kitten 4.5week old. She is on heat .this is second time after giving birth to coco. Being young and twice gone through pregnancy she is very week won't eat happily unless I nah her to eat.sometimes I have to force feed her. I can't afford surgery right now. It's 49° here. What should I do to help her get healthy so she can be spayed? And how should I deal with this heat issue until she gains weight?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The best way to get Snoshi healthy and better is to try to get her to eat good quality food with water added. Canned kitten food is going to be best for this. Also, make sure she has a cool place to go, maybe an area with a fan to help escape the heat. Make sure she has access to clean water at all times. Try to get the kitten eating kitten food as well, so that she isn't drinking off Snoshi anymore. Good luck with Snoshi!
