I recommend feeding a large breed puppy food four times daily. I start with the amount recommended on the bag. If he is ravenous then I increase that amount at each meal so that he’s hungry and just about finishes the food but isn’t starving. Many active dogs need more food than recommended, so I judge the amount by your specific dogs needs. Gradually decrease to three meals a day after a month or two then to two meals daily when he’s six to eight months old.
