Kitten leg wound: Can I use Mupirocin until I can see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 7 days old

I found my kitten sandy who has been An outside cat since she was born under my house hanging from her leg. I got her out and its swollen. And she has a wound on the back of her leg. I can't take her to the vet until monday though. Is it safe to use Mupirocin 2% on the wound?

Unfortunately, Sandy needs a vet as soon as possible. I recommend not waiting until Monday. I would recommend finding a vet you can take her to so she can get care. There are 24 hour hospitals if you cannot get to the vet during the day. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
