My 2-month kitten has bloody diarrhea after cow milk. Vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 2 months and 5 days old | 0.5 lbs

Hi, my kitten is 2 months old, and recently, i gave her some cow milk. I just adopted her so i think there was a change in her normal diet too. Today ( more than 24 hours after she drank the milk) her most recent bowel looks liquidy and there is a speck of blood accompanying it as well ( please see the photo). Should i be concerned and bring her to the Vet? If so, how soon does it have to be?

As long as she’s feeling fine and eating and drinking she should be fine. Please get her back on cat food and water only and this loose stool should resolve without treatment. When cats have bowel irritation they can pass small amounts of blood. If she’s not eating well, not drinking or the diarrhea lasts more than a day then please take her in for an exam and treatment.
